• Effects of the speed at Le Mans

• THE CENTRIFUGAL FORCE

Observe the hose on its stand in the foreground.  Its movements realize the transfer of mass due to the accelerations, the decelerations and the changes of course.  The g-force

• FRICTION FORCES

Led by the high speeds, they bring the wear and the high temperature

causing spectacular losses of control, runway excursions impacting, smokes and set on fire.  The pilot faces the danger.

• THE VISUAL EFFECT

The field of vision is shrunk.

Impressive effect of parallaxe to illustrate the side scrolling, certainly strengthened by a not very high camera capacity.  Very visible effect.

• The layout of the circuit is very fast in its northern part because of the absence of the Dunlop chicane and the turn of the Chapel.  This video dates from 1983, aboard the Porsche 956 driven by Dereck Bell.

>> To note, the long straight Hunaudières of 6 km deprived of Playstation and Michelin baffles. The chicanes appeared in 1990 to "break" the speed on the Hunaudières. The Porsche "peaked" around 390 km / h.

• THE AERODYNAMICS

The invisible phenomena bound to the flow of the air around the elements of body are amplified by the speed of the airflow circulating there.  The troughs of low pressure forming can became a true trap.

Proof by image.  Fortunately with minor injuries for Peter Dumbreck, contrary to what would have been able to remind the circumstances of this crash.         Wikipedia CLR warm-up

• THE ALL MEETS

Antony Davidson, driving the Audi on the left, will get away with 2 fractured vertebrae. The induced force must be terrible at the impact for the body...
